Lab Unit Converter

Convert between volume, mass, concentration, and molarity units — for pipetting, reagent prep, and reporting lab results.

Conversions are exact unit conversions — concentration and molarity conversions assume the same solute throughout.

Volume

1 mL = 1000 µL

Volume

1 L = 1000 mL

Mass

1 mg = 1000 µg

Mass

1 g = 1000 mg

Concentration

1 mg/mL = 1000 µg/mL

How to use this converter

  • Pick a category, enter a value, choose the unit you're converting from and to, then tap Convert.
  • For clinical lab tests, pick "Clinical Lab Test Results" as the category, choose the analyte, then convert between conventional and SI units.
  • Use the swap icon to quickly reverse the direction of a conversion.
  • Tap a card under "Common Conversions" or "Clinical Test Quick Reference" to load a frequently used pair.

Notes and limitations

  • Clinical test conversion factors are standard published conventional-to-SI factors and assume the test's typical reporting units (e.g. glucose in mg/dL, creatinine in mg/dL) — always confirm against your lab's actual reporting unit and reference range before using a converted value clinically.
  • Concentration and molarity conversions here are unit conversions only — converting between mass-based concentration (e.g. ng/µL) and molarity (e.g. nM) requires the molecule's molecular weight or average fragment size, which this tool doesn't ask for. Use the Library Molarity Calculator for that conversion.
  • Always double-check unit conversions against your SOP before using them in a reportable result, per your quality management system (e.g. ISO 15189).
